Noor Cultural Centre

Prime Consultant: Moriyama & Teshima Architects
Construction Date: 2003-2004
Location: Toronto, Ontario
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Noor Cultural Centre is the culmination of a ten year dream for Hassanali and Noorbanu Lakhani.
The Building they selected was the former Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre. The Lakhani’s recognized that the building was an architectural landmark and place of spiritual quality. Our contract included introduction of a new Mechanical and Electrical system and preservation of the existing concrete and wood structure. A new Prayer Room, Ablution Rooms, wheelchair accessible washroom, resource centre, barrier free ramp and Elevator were all constructed with minimal intervention to the original design and fabric. This project was not a designated LEED project but it did achieve the sustainable design principles.
