The Bennett Residence is a 4000 square foot custom log home, complete with an indoor swimming pool and geothermal system.  The building is nestled amongst forested acreage and fronting on its own pond, which serves as the main source of geothermal heat for both the home and pool.    Although the log structure was erected by another contractor, JD Strachan constructed the foundation, roof, mechanical, electrical and all finishes.  The finishing woodwork including the staircase, had to be detailed and installed in such a way as to allow excessive movement of the structure that is characteristic of log homes.
