Zion Church

Client: The City of North York
Prime Consultant: Alan Seymour, Architect
Construction Date: 1997-1997
Location: North York, Ontario
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The original (Zion Primitive Methodist) church was built in 1872 and continued in use until the 1940’s. From then until the City of North York engaged Alan Seymour Architect to design the restoration, the church remained empty. Our work included an addition to the north side, cedar roof and copper rain gear, masonry restoration, plaster conservation and new mechanical and electrical services. The original plaster walls were restored by introducing a fabric covering to stabilize the delicate material. We are proud to have participated on this project that received the Heritage Toronto Conservation Award.
