ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Humber College Urban Ecology Centre is a new 5000 sq. ft. Environmental Studies building constructed on the edge of the Credit River Valley in Etobicoke.  This building has been designed on Humber’s North campus with a poured concrete lower level, structural slab; exposed structural steel column framed 2nd floor and a “green roof”.  The exterior walls on the 2nd floor are a triple glazed aluminum framed system.  The waste management is a Waterloo Biofilter system that has been designed to manage the building’s sewage and to control and re-use the rain water. This building achieved a LEED gold classification.  There are numerous environmental and construction issues that make this project very unique.
